I took a short shower in the rain this evening. It turned out just exactly what I need to unwind from today's very hectic errands. Besides, showers in the rain are something I don't think I'll outgrow... that and books, of course.
I believe that June turned out to be a very fruitful month, with no rating below 4 stars.
- Follies Past: A Prequel to Pride and Prejudice by Melanie Kerr -4/5 stars -pretty interesting take on the probable Georgiana and Wickham affair.
- The City and the City by China MiƩville -5/5 stars - I have nothing but pure admiration for the genius of the author.
- Previously Loved Treasures by Bette Lee Crosby - 4/5 stars - A very endearing read.
- Why Kings Confess by C.S. Harris - 4/5 stars - The 9th book from the Sebastian St. Cyr series, and again it doesn't disappoint.
- The Utopia Experiment by Kyle Mills 4/5 stars - One of my favorite series as well, and very pleased that Marty made some really awesome actions in this installment.
Here's hoping that July will be as progressive and fabulous. I've chosen a book series by Pseudonymous Bosch that I've kept on the shelf for quite a while, after reading the 1st book.
- If You're Reading This, It's Too Late (Secret, #2) by Pseudonymous Bosch
- This Book Is Not Good for You (Secret, #3) by Pseudonymous Bosch
- This Isn't What It Looks Like (Secret, #4) by Pseudonymous Bosch
- You Have to Stop This (Secret, #5) by Pseudonymous Bosch
So far, these make good company with A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, TFG book of the month. No, they are not related in any way but does balance the palate.
Those look like fun books. Wikipedia mentioned though that Raphael disputed that he is Pseudonymous Bosch. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteThey are absolutely fun! The author talks to his readers directly too in a very engaging way, very very much unlike Calvino's way. hehehe
DeleteAnd let me rectify his name then, until the indisputable turns up. :)
We missed you at The City & The City discussion! :(
ReplyDeleteI missed you more!
DeleteAnd, I've lost my chance to fangirl for CM.
Glad though that you won the day's raffle. :)
